Operationalizing Decarbonization: An Interactive Workshop

Join the Vermont Law and Graduate School's Institute for Energy and the Environment and Duke Farms, a Center of the Doris Duke Foundation, for a practical, hands-on workshop exploring how mission-driven organizations can plan and implement clean energy and decarbonization initiatives.

Participants will examine the financial, regulatory, organizational, and technical considerations involved in decarbonization, hear lessons learned from Duke Farms' sustainability journey, and engage in an interactive discussion focused on developing actionable strategies for their own institutions. The session is designed for facilities, operations, sustainability, and organizational leaders seeking real-world approaches to advancing climate and sustainability goals. 

The workshop will feature insights from Mark James, Director of the Institute for Energy and the Environment, as well as a Duke Farms case study, highlighting lessons learned from Duke Farms' sustainability and decarbonization journey, including goal setting, project prioritization, phased implementation, and leveraging public incentives to advance clean energy projects. 

Attendees will also participate in a facilitated discussion designed to help organizations identify opportunities, constraints, and next steps for their own decarbonization efforts. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of the issues at play, practical strategies for advancing sustainability goals, access to additional resources, and connections with peers facing similar challenges.
